Alotofresearchworkhasbeendonetoexplorethewaysofvocabularyacquisition.ThetheoryofMemoryshowsthatourmemorysystemconsistsoftwoprocesses---informationencodingandinformationextract.Encodingmeanstokeeptheinformationthatneedstobememorizedforfutureuse,whiletheencodingmodeinfluencesthememoryeffect.Informationextractreferstoseektheneededcodefromtheencodedinformation.Thefrequencyofinformationextracthasacloserelationwiththememoryeffect(Salthouse,).
